2007

Since I haven't written anything in quite a while I thought I could make a fresh start with 2007.

This new year is only a few days old and I got some things accomplished already. For instance organizing my personal 2007 almost entirely until my baby-brothers birthday. At least that is going to be the date anyone who feels like it that day is welcome to pick me up at Hamburg airport. October 18th 2007. More about this later on.

Right now, I am still in Germany trying to figure out all the things which need to be taken care of by myself while being here until the 20th...

From then on my adventure "Internship with YFU Sweden in Stockholm" starts. And I still don't know anything about the people I am going to be staying with. About five years ago I was in a similar situation...

It looks like there is quite an interesting time ahead of me and I am wondering if this year is going to meet the expectations which are around at this point. There are: quite a few personal goals, two language goals, my two internships, probably a few friendship goals, and most importantly: a plan for my studies.

Moreover, this is the year I am going to turn 23 and maybe there is a chance for me to act more according to my age... I was looking for a good English word for the German 'Schonzeit' but I have to say that 'honeymoon period' sounds a little bit weird to my German ears. At least, I have found a good way to get some "Schonzeit" off my studies and even take another opportunity to improve on my so called 'soft skills'. Those are supposedly very important for the Political Science Major Species as I have heard and read a million times throughout the past two years.

While doing all this planning and trying to figure out this and that, someone wanted to point out to me that there are a few things which cannot be planned and organized. Between heaven and earth there are matters that happen without anyone being able to interfere or having a chance to utter their opinion. A lot of us might have lost the ability to manage life a different way than they have had it all planned out so well. Sometimes I myself tend to forget about this, too...

"Well you know me
I’ve never been afraid
I always jump into it
With my whole heart and no shame" November, LALEH
